Krasnoyarsk Museum Center
The Krasnoyarsk Museum Centre began the existence in 1987 as branch, traditional for the time, of the Central museum Lenina. In 1991 with the purpose of reorientation of a museum the concept (authors - Gnedovskiy М.B was developed original cultural., Nikishin N.А.), leaning (basing) on which the Museum centre develops and works now.
As against traditional museums the basic activity of the Museum centre is focused not on the past, and on the future of culture. One of the main tasks of the Museum centre is crystallization of modern cultural values and values of a developing society (community). In practice it is embodied in interaction with the cultural initiatives and presentation at the Museum centre cultural new formation, yet not including in interaction with the basic flow of cultural life.
Now Krasnoyarsk Museum Centre involves in professional dialogue and search not only museum professionals of Russia, but also Europe, is largest in Siberia by a presentation platform of modern art of Russia and Europe, and also multinational culture of Siberia.
Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum
The Krasnoyarsk Regional Museum is one of the oldest in Siberia. It was opened in 1889. The building of the museum itself represents a unique monument of architecture. Its look oddly incorporates the features of the modern style combined with the elements of ancient Egyptian architecture. The museum’s collection includes more than 300 thousand units of storage. The exposition of the museum begins with the history of ancient tribes, which inhabited the Yenisei region.
Ethnographic collection, ‘Peoples of Siberia’ presents national clothing, tools and cult-objects of the Nenets, the Evenki, The Iganasans, the Kets, the Dolgans and a number of other indigenous peoples inhabiting the territory of Krasnoyarsk region. There is unique paleontological collection in the Krasnoyarsk Museum. Here one can see the fragments of skeleton of rare animals, such as cave lion, primitive aurochs, large-horned deer and etc. In the center of the exposition the largest representatives of the glacial fauna are placed.
This is the skeleton of a mammoth and a plaster cast, reconstructing the woolly rhinoceros’ appearance. In the halls devoted to the history of the Yenisei province a broad panorama of Russian development of Siberia is presented. Here one can see exhibits related to the great geographical discoveries made by Russian pathfinders.
I.V. Surikov Estate Museum
The Krasnoyarsk Surikov museum possesses a great collection of the famous Krasnoyarsk artist. The collection includes 78 paintings which represent his artistic work of early and late periods.
There you will be able to see the first independent painting "The view of Peter the Great monument on Senat square", "Boat on the water", "Anfisa's portrait", "The portrait of A.N. Tretyakova", "Baidarskie gates" and others.There are approximately 9 000 objects in the fund of the museum: icons which date back to XVII-XIX centuries, Russian, soviet and foreign paintings, graphic works, sculpture, Russian avant-garde works.The collection of Surikov museum grew up to 4000 objects during the latest years due to various gifts.There are approximately 25 exhibitions held annually in the museum. Among them there are funds from China, Norway, Poland, Holland, Armenia. The museum's exhibitions abroad are also very popular, especially avant-garde works.There is a good tradition to held "Surikovskie readings" once in 2 years.
